Wonbin Desert Camp, Jaisalmer

Booking terms

Written so that you and the person at our desk are reading the same document. Where these terms and something said on WhatsApp disagree, the WhatsApp message wins, because that is the one with your dates on it.

Who you are booking with

Wonbin Safari, Fort Road, Dhibba Para, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan 345001. GSTIN 08ESJPK0226D1Z1. The hotel on Fort Road and the camp on the Siala and Damia dunes are the same business.

How a booking is made

  • You message us on WhatsApp with your dates and how many of you there are. There is no online checkout.
  • We confirm in writing, on WhatsApp, with the price per person and what is included. That written confirmation is your booking. If it is not in the message, it is not booked.
  • No deposit is taken and no card details are collected. You pay at the hotel on arrival.
  • Prices are per person and include GST and camp taxes. The number we quote is the number you pay.

What the price includes

It varies by trip and the full list is on each trip’s own page. On every overnight package it covers, at minimum:

  • Pickup from Jaisalmer railway station, the bus stand or your hotel
  • A room at our Fort Road hotel to shower and change, and luggage storage
  • The drive out to the desert and the drive back
  • The jeep safari, and the camel ride
  • Dinner, breakfast, chai and sealed drinking water
  • Your bed, bedding and heavy blankets
  • GST and all camp taxes

The itemised list for each trip is on its own page under camps and rooms.

What the price never includes

Two things sit outside every package, and we would rather you read it here than hear it at the camp:

  • Alcohol. It is not in any package. Guests do buy it and that is fine, but it is paid for separately.
  • The quad bike and the buggy. These are not part of any of our eight packages and are charged separately if you want them. Ask the price before you get on. If anybody has ever implied they were included, they were wrong.
  • Tips for the crew, which are entirely yours to decide.
  • Getting yourself to Jaisalmer. Everything from the moment you arrive is ours.

Vehicles and group size

A jeep safari on our overnight trips is around 25 km across three deserts. How many vehicles a group needs depends on how many of you there are, and we will tell you the vehicle arrangement before you pay, not on the day.

If you are a group of six or more, ask us to put the number of jeeps in the confirmation message. It is a fair question and we would rather answer it in writing.

Changes we may have to make

The desert sets some of the timetable and we will not pretend otherwise.

  • A dust storm, unseasonal rain or a genuine safety concern can move a night at the camp into a tent, shorten a camel leg, or move the trip to another date. We will tell you as it happens rather than afterwards.
  • If we cannot run the trip at all, you choose between another date and a full refund. See the cancellation page.
  • The cultural programme depends on musicians who are people, not a rota. If a performer cannot come, the programme is shorter, and we will say so at the camp rather than let you notice.

Behaviour, and the limits of it

The camp takes families, solo travellers and people who came a long way for one quiet night. We will ask a group to stop if they are ruining that, and in the rare case it continues we will drive them back to Jaisalmer and refund the night. That has happened and it will happen again.

Risk, and what we are responsible for

A camel ride, an open jeep on sand and a night in the open desert carry risks that cannot be removed, only explained. They are set out on the safety page and you should read it before you travel.

We are responsible for running the trip we sold you, with crew who know the ground, and for telling you the truth about what it involves. We are not responsible for pre-existing medical conditions you did not tell us about, for belongings you leave in a vehicle or a tent, or for a decision to ride, drive or climb something after we have advised against it.

Nothing here limits any right you have under Indian consumer law.

Photographs

We photograph trips and use the pictures on this site and on our Google listing. Tell us if you would rather not be in them and we will not use a frame you are recognisable in. Every photograph on this site is our own or a guest’s, taken on a trip like yours.

If something goes wrong

Tell us at the camp, that night, while it can still be fixed. The number below reaches the person who can act on it. A problem raised at the camp is usually solvable; the same problem raised three weeks later in a review is not, however fair it is.

Law

These terms are governed by Indian law and the courts of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

A question about your own booking

This page cannot answer one. A person can, the same day, in writing.
