Cancellation and refunds
One rule does most of the work: cancel more than 48 hours before you arrive and you get everything back. Because nothing is taken online, in most cases there is no money to return at all — you simply do not come, and you do not pay.
If you cancel
- More than 48 hours before arrival: full refund, no questions and no reason needed. If you had not paid yet, nothing happens at all.
- Inside 48 hours: we will move you to another date if we can fill the bed, and in practice we usually can outside the October to March peak. If we cannot, the night is charged. Ask — do not assume either way.
- If you do not arrive and have not told us: the night is charged. A jeep, a cook and a camel crew went out for you.
- Part of a group dropping out: tell us the new number and the price simply changes. There is no penalty for being four instead of six.
If we cancel
It is rare and it is always weather or safety. When it happens you choose, and it is your choice rather than ours:
- Another date, at the same price, even if our rates have gone up since.
- Or a full refund of everything you have paid, including any part-payment.
- If we cancel after you have already arrived in Jaisalmer, we will also give you a room at the hotel on Fort Road for that night at no charge. You came a long way.
How a refund is paid
Back the way it came. Cash paid at the desk is refunded in cash at the desk. A bank or UPI transfer goes back to the account it came from, usually the same day and always within seven working days. We do not issue credit notes or vouchers instead of money.
If you booked through an OTA
A booking made on GetYourGuide, Booking.com, MakeMyTrip or any other platform is cancelled and refunded under that platform’s policy, not this page, because they hold the payment. GetYourGuide, for example, is free cancellation up to 24 hours. We cannot refund money we never received — but tell us anyway, so we know not to send a jeep.
Cutting a trip short
If you leave a multi-day safari early because of illness or because it is not what you wanted, we will refund the nights you did not use, less anything already spent on your behalf. If you leave early because we got something wrong, we will refund the whole thing. Which of those it is will usually be obvious to both of us.
A question about your own booking
This page cannot answer one. A person can, the same day, in writing.
