One night, two days

A Swiss tent with hot water, and three deserts to get to it

  • Damia desert
  • 1 night, 2 days
  • Swiss tent or cottage

Your night

Special Package, Damia, hour by hour.

The same desert and the same evening as the other two, with a proper room at the end of it. You choose a Swiss luxury tent or a cottage; both have an attached washroom with hot and cold water and someone on call through the night.

  1. Afternoon

We meet you 40 km out

We leave the office and wait for you at a set point, 40 km from the start. Bring yourself there — we send directions and a guide, but the transport to the meeting point is yours to arrange.

  2. Then

    25 km jeep, three deserts

Across the Damia desert, the Laxmna desert and the Royal desert. Three different kinds of ground in one afternoon.

  3. Before dusk

    Ten minutes by camel

The camels are waiting at the end of the jeep leg to take you the last part up to the ridge.

  4. Sunset

    The sunset point

By camel or by jeep, out to the point, and you watch it go down over open country.

  5. Evening

    Chai, coffee and snacks

You arrive at camp and are met with tea, coffee and something to eat before anything else happens.

  6. Night

Five kinds of folk music, then dinner

Rajasthani folk music and dance — five different forms — then the DJ, then a Rajasthani buffet eaten with everyone else who is out there that night.

  7. Late

    Your tent, or your cottage

Whichever you chose. Attached washroom, hot and cold water, and service through the night if you need anything.

    through the night

  8. Morning

    Breakfast, then the city

Breakfast at camp, then back to Jaisalmer for the city tour — the fort and four more stops.

    about 4 hours later

  9. Late morning

    Back where you started

Dropped in town when the tour finishes.

Where you sleep

Swiss luxury tent, or a cottage — you pick

Both have a proper bed, an attached washroom with hot and cold water, and 24-hour service. The tent is canvas over a solid floor; the cottage is a built room. They cost the same.

Say which one you want when you ask about dates. If you do not mind either way, say that instead and we will give you whichever is quieter that night.

Photos

Taken out there, on trips like yours.

Our own pictures and our guests’. Nothing here is a stock photograph of somebody else’s desert.

Getting there

Jaisalmer first, then we take over.

Getting to Jaisalmer

Trains run overnight from Delhi and Jodhpur into Jaisalmer station, and buses come in from Jodhpur, Bikaner and Udaipur. The station and the bus stand are both about ten minutes from our hotel on Fort Road.

Then

This package starts 40 km out of town. We send you the meeting point and a guide for the route, but you arrange the vehicle to it. Every other package on this site includes the pickup.

Where we are

Fort Road, Dhibba Para
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan 345001

Directions and a map

Good to know

The things people ask before they book.

Why do we have to get ourselves to the meeting point?

Because this package starts 40 km out rather than in town. We send directions and a guide for the route, but the vehicle is yours to arrange. The One Night, Two Days package includes pickup from the station if you would rather we did it.

Tent or cottage — which is better?

Neither, honestly. The tent feels more like the desert and the cottage is warmer in January. Same bed, same washroom, same price.

Is there hot water?

Yes, hot and cold, in the attached washroom, and someone on duty through the night if it stops working.

Is the buffet vegetarian?

The Rajasthani buffet is vegetarian. Tell us in advance about allergies or anything else you cannot eat and the kitchen will cook around it.

The other ways

Not this one?

Every trip we run goes to the same desert. What changes is how long you are out, what is over you at night, and whether the folk programme is in it.

Still deciding

Tell us who’s coming.

How many of you, which nights, and whether anyone needs a washroom a few steps away rather than a dune. We will tell you which trip actually suits you, including when the answer is none of them.
