Two nights, two days
One night on the sand, one night in a tent
- Thar desert
- 2 nights, 2 days
- Open sky, then a tent
Your night
Desert Life Luxury Safari, hour by hour.
Two nights lets the desert stop being a day out. The first night you sleep on the sand with nothing over you; the second you get the cultural programme, the buffet and a Swiss tent. In between there is a whole day that you decide the shape of.
Day 1, 2:00 PM

Jeep pickup
From your hotel or a point you name. Then the jeep safari out through the dunes.
Day 1

A village on the way
A stop at a desert village to see how people out here actually live, and to hear some of the history from someone who grew up with it.
Day 1

Forty minutes by camel
The last stretch to the camping ground is done on a camel, with snacks and water on the way.
Day 1, sunset

Red light on the dunes
You reach the ground as it goes. This is the part people photograph and then give up on photographing.
Day 1, evening

Cooked over the campfire
Rajasthani food cooked on a fire in front of you and eaten sitting in the open.
Day 1, night

Under the open sky
You sleep outside, on the sand. No tent on this night.

Day 2, morning

Breakfast, then your call
Breakfast, then the day is yours: another camel trek, a jeep safari through the dunes, the monuments, or all three. Tell the crew that morning.
about 12 hours later
Day 2, evening

Tika, Aarti, then the programme
A traditional welcome with drinks and snacks, then folk dance and singing — men and women in full colour, songs that go back generations. Then the buffet.
about 4 hours later
Day 2, night

A Swiss tent
The second night is under canvas, with a bed, and the same sky when you step outside.

Where you sleep
Two nights, two different beds
Night one is on the sand at the camping ground — bed, mattress, blankets, fire, no roof.
Night two is a Swiss luxury tent at the camp, after the cultural programme and the buffet. If you want both nights the same way round, say so and we will arrange it.

Photos
Taken out there, on trips like yours.
Our own pictures and our guests’. Nothing here is a stock photograph of somebody else’s desert.
Getting there
Jaisalmer first, then we take over.
Getting to Jaisalmer
Trains run overnight from Delhi and Jodhpur into Jaisalmer station, and buses come in from Jodhpur, Bikaner and Udaipur. The station and the bus stand are both about ten minutes from our hotel on Fort Road.
Then
We collect you from the station, the bus stand or your hotel. Leave your luggage with us, use a room and a shower, and go out with nothing you do not need.
Where we are
Fort Road, Dhibba Para
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan 345001
The camp itself
About 40 km out, on the Siala and Damia dunes.

The things people ask before they book.
What actually happens on day two?
You choose. Another camel trek, a jeep safari through the dunes, or a run out to the monuments — or a combination. Tell the crew at breakfast; it is not fixed in advance and it does not cost extra.
Which night is the cultural programme?
The second one, at the camp, before you go into the Swiss tent. The first night is the quiet one out on the sand.
Is all the food vegetarian?
Yes. The buffet and everything cooked over the fire is vegetarian. Tell us about allergies before you arrive.
Why is this cheaper than the Adventure package?
On the old price list it is, and we have kept both prices as published. Ask us before you book and we will confirm what each one costs on your dates.
The other ways
Not this one?
Every trip we run goes to the same desert. What changes is how long you are out, what is over you at night, and whether the folk programme is in it.
Still deciding
Tell us who’s coming.
How many of you, which nights, and whether anyone needs a washroom a few steps away rather than a dune. We will tell you which trip actually suits you, including when the answer is none of them.
