Every rate we charge
What a desert safari in Jaisalmer actually costs
- From ₹2,250 per person
- Taxes inside the price
- Nothing added at the camp
Almost every complaint about a Jaisalmer desert safari is a pricing complaint. The number on the website was for the bed, the jeep was extra, the camel was extra, the folk programme was extra, and the bill at the end was double. So here is the whole rate card in one table, and then what the same things cost if you go and arrange them yourself.
The rate card
Eight trips, eight numbers.

What “all in” means
The list is the same on every trip.
Whatever you book, the price on this page covers being collected, getting out to the desert and back, everything you ride, everything you eat, where you sleep, and the tax on all of it.
Always inside the price
- Pickup from the station, the bus stand or your hotel
- A room at our hotel to shower and change, and luggage storage
- The drive out and the drive back
- The jeep safari and the camel ride
- Dinner, breakfast, chai and drinking water
- The bed, the bedding and the blankets
- GST and the camp taxes
Never inside it
- Alcohol
- Anything you buy from the gypsy families or in town
- Tips for the crew, which are yours to decide
- Getting yourself to Jaisalmer in the first place
The other way
What the same things cost at Sam, item by item.
You do not have to book a package. You can take a bus to Sam and buy each piece on the sand. These are the published street rates for that — we do not set them and they are negotiated on the spot, so treat them as a floor rather than a quote.
| Arranged yourself at Sam | Published street rate |
|---|---|
| Getting onto the dunes | Free |
| Camel ride | from ₹400 |
| Jeep safari / dune bashing | from ₹1,000 |
| A bed in a camp on the strip | ₹1,500 – ₹5,000 |
| Return transport from Jaisalmer | Bus, or ₹1,500–2,500 for a car |
Add those up honestly and a self-arranged night at Sam lands in the same territory as a package, with four negotiations in it and nobody responsible if the jeep does not turn up. That is the argument for booking one thing. It is not an argument that you are being overcharged at Sam — the camel men there are working, and ₹400 for a camel is not a swindle.
How this works
Nothing is taken online.
There is no card form on this site and no booking engine. You message us on WhatsApp, we confirm the dates and the number in writing, and you pay at the hotel when you arrive. That is the whole process.
A booking can be cancelled for a full refund up to 48 hours before you arrive. Inside 48 hours we will still move you to another date if we can fill the bed — ask rather than assume.
- No deposit and no card details
- No booking fee and no service charge
- Answered the same day, in writing, with the price in the message
- Full refund up to 48 hours before arrival
Good to know
The things people ask.
How much does a desert safari in Jaisalmer cost?
Ours run from ₹2,250 to ₹6,000 per person depending on how long you are out and whether you sleep in a tent or on the open sand. Every number includes the transport, the jeep, the camel, the food, the bed and the tax. Arranged piecemeal at Sam you would pay from ₹400 for a camel and from ₹1,000 for a jeep, plus a bed at ₹1,500 to ₹5,000.
Is the price per person or per tent?
Per person. A tent normally sleeps two and each of you pays the rate on the card.
Are there any hidden charges at the camp?
No. The jeep, the camel, the cultural programme, dinner, breakfast, the bedding and the taxes are inside the quoted number. The only things you can spend money on at camp are alcohol and tips.
Do I have to pay a deposit to book?
No. Nothing is taken online and no card details are collected. You confirm on WhatsApp and pay when you arrive at the hotel in Jaisalmer.
Is it cheaper in summer?
Yes, and there is a reason. April to June runs past 45 °C in the day and the desert is not enjoyable. We will quote you a lower rate if you insist, and we will also tell you not to come.
Do you charge extra for the cultural programme?
It is included on the trips that have it — One Night Two Days, Sunset Cultural and All Day Cultural. The Siala open-camping trip has a fire and no programme, which is the point of it, and it is not priced as though something has been taken away.
If that helped

How many of you, which nights, and whether anyone needs a washroom a few steps away rather than a dune. We will tell you which trip actually suits you, including when the answer is none of them.
